The role of green supply chains in enhancing operational performance: An analytical study of the opinions of a sample of employees at Zain Middle East Food Industries and Juices Company

Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to diagnose the role of green supply chains in enhancing operational performance through an analytical study of the opinions of a sample of employees at Zain Middle East Food Industries and Juices Company. The research problem addressed how green supply chains, with their dimensions (green information technology, green manufacturing and packaging, green storage, green purchasing, and green marketing), can be adopted to enhance operational performance. Therefore, the importance of this research lies in the researchers' attempt to propose a set of solutions that could mitigate or address this problem. The research objectives aimed to conduct a descriptive analysis of the studied variables and then test the correlation and influence relationships between them. To achieve these objectives, the descriptive-analytical method was used. A questionnaire was designed using a number of ready-made indicators and scales, and after adapting it to suit the purposes of this research, it was distributed to a sample of (32) employees of the company, representing department managers and heads of technical and administrative units. After processing the data using tested non-parametric statistical tools such as median, range, and relative importance, as well as simple linear regression analysis available in the SPSS statistical software, a set of results was obtained that confirmed the validity of the main and sub-hypotheses of the research. Therefore, it was recommended that the application of green supply chain dimensions be strengthened in the company under study.
