Abstract
The research aims to shed light on the analysis of the development of the structure of exports, the trade balance, and some other economic variables in Iraq for the period (2004-2020), as most of the developing countries suffer from the problem of lack of diversification of exports due to the presence of the only economic resource that determines income in them, such as Iraq, where oil is considered It is the only reliable economic source, and also with the aim of knowing whether this improvement or deterioration in the structure of exports and the trade balance is due to a recovery or contraction in the volume of some economic variables or due to other factors, as. This research comes to show the effective role that the diversification of the export structure can play on the foreign trade sector (trade balance) as a vital and important sector for providing hard currency with characteristics that benefit the general benefit of the national economy, as enhancing the policy of economic diversification of exports is one of the basic goals of policies and strategies. National countries of the world, and in Iraq, the relationship between food exports and imports is negative and contrary to the economic reality that currently exists, as its trade balance (imports) is exclusively dominated by many diverse goods and it is dependent on imports abroad, and through an analytical study this can be shown.
